The guards are mounted separate from the transducer mount. The unique design of the angled guard, deflects you off of underwater hazards, also deflects grass away from transducer, The angled design of the guard help's take the impact off the trolling motor. These guards are easy to install, nothing to maintain and doesn't mess with the performance of trolling motor.
